I’m Danielle, and I’m so happy that you found my little corner of the internet.
Welcome to Love from the Table, my blog dedicated to simple recipes for busy families. I believe that food does not have to be complicated or fancy to be delicious, and that homemade meals don’t have to take all day. I focus on family favorites made from fresh ingredients that are easy enough even for the busy weeknights. In these pages you will find lots of 30-minute meals, one-pot weeknight dinners, homemade snacks, and easy desserts that your whole family will love.
I’m a former lawyer turned stay-at-home mom to two crazy, wonderful boys. I live in the beautiful upper Midwest, where I spend half of the year hiking, camping and soaking up the sun, and the other half of the year cocooned in sweaters refusing to leave the house. I love espresso and wine, and think almost every meal needs a little cheese on top (on Wisconsin!).
The kitchen has always been my happy place. I LOVE to cook, and would choose a home-cooked meal around my table over a fancy restaurant every time. Add some good wine and my family and friends, and that’s about all I need in life.
I am also an avid gardener. I started gardening in grad school when I had a little community garden plot with some friends, and I have been hooked ever since. These days, I have a vegetable garden that is about 1,200 square feet, so if you like cherry tomatoes or pesto recipes in the summer, I’m your girl!
My Taste Testers
All of my recipes are tested multiple times by me in my own kitchen. By the time they get to you, I want to make sure each recipe is as easy-to-follow and delicious as possible. My littlest taste testers like to give me lots of feedback, and the only recipes that make it to the blog are the recipes we love! I include process photos of each recipe, so that even the busy mom of toddlers can find success.
My family’s favorite recipes these days are:
My favorites: Rosemary cheddar biscuits, arugula caesar salad with bbq chickpeas
Hubby’s favorites: Cajun chicken orzo, zuppa toscana with ground turkey
Kids' favorites: Chickpea spinach curry, sweet cream pancakes
My Food Philosophy
My most important goal around food as a mom is to try to get my family around the table together as much as possible. I think family mealtime is so important, but I know how difficult it can be to get dinner on the table every. single. night. especially when we are all juggling a million obligations. That’s why I started this blog! I’m here to share the easy recipes that help make family dinner happen in my own busy house. Some nights that might mean toast for dinner, and that’s ok! In fact, that’s amazing. It’s the time spent together that matters.
In terms of what we eat, my philosophy is “everything in moderation,” as long as it tastes delicious. I try to eat mostly healthy, fresh foods, but I am not a food purist. I love vegetables and chocolate equally. I eat a salad for lunch almost every single day, because I love salad, and also because I want to leave plenty of room in my life for cocktails and dessert! You will find lots of healthy wholesome family meals on the blog, and also M&M rice krispie treats because... well just because.
I’m a believer that everyone has to find their own balance, and that no matter what you’re eating, if you eat it surrounded by your loved ones, it will nourish the soul!
