Air Fryer Cinnamon Apples

Air fryer cinnamon apples are the easiest fall dessert! Naturally sweetened and warmly spiced, these tender apples are heavenly topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Back in April, I promised my children that I would start making more desserts. I mean, these poor kids are subjected to so much homemade mac and cheese, granola and lasagna, they surely have cause to complain (please note the sarcasm).

I will admit though, this promise has been neglected. The truth is, while I love dessert, I almost never make it. Because I’m busy. As are you. And although dinner is required (those kids have to eat every day, you know?), dessert is optional.

Well, I am back on the dessert bandwagon this week, but this time I am going for the simplest dessert I can think of. And, in my opinion, simple food is often the best. With apple season right around the corner, you will definitely want to keep this delicious air fryer apple recipe in your back pocket. With only 4 ingredients, these tender apples are slightly tart and sweet, with lots of warm cinnamon. They taste like the inside of apple pie, but with none of the work.

Top these delicious apples with a big scoop of ice cream or homemade whipped cream, and no one will accuse you of neglecting dessert! For another easy fall dessert, try my muffin tin apple pies!

To make air fryer apples you need the following ingredients (full ingredients list with exact measurements is included in the recipe card below):

Ingredient Notes

  • Apples: I used a combination of granny smith apples and pink lady apples. Granny smith are my favorite, as the tart flavor gives a great contrast to the sweet maple syrup. Any firm apple will work in this recipe. Honeycrisp, Braeburn or Jonathan would work well.  I would avoid Golden Delicious, Red Delicious or McIntosh because they are too soft.
  • Maple syrup: Feel free to substitute honey for the maple syrup in this recipe.

Instructions

Step One: Peel and core the apples. Chop them into bite-sized pieces, about 1 inch across.

Note: Peeling the apples is optional. If you don’t mind the peel, leave it on for extra fiber and color! I chopped the apples into small chunks for easier scooping, but you could use apple slices if you prefer.

Step Four: Air fry the apples at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes, stopping to give the basket a shake halfway through. The apples are done cooking when they are tender and starting to turn golden.

Storage

Store leftover apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The apples may get a little more soft upon reheating.
