Easy Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits

Upgrade  your dinner rolls with these simple homemade cheddar buttermilk biscuits.  With fresh rosemary, creamy buttermilk and aged white cheddar, these  delicious biscuits are a perfect addition to your dinner menu.

ingredients

– 2 cups all purpose flour – 2 teaspoons baking powder – 1/4 teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon salt – 1 teaspoon sugar – 6 tablespoons unsalted butter very cold and cut into cubes – 3/4 cup buttermilk very cold – 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary – 1 cup freshly grated white cheddar cheese – additional melted butter for brushing the tops of the biscuits optional

Step 1

Gather the ingredients. 

Step 2

Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

Step 3

Add cold cubed butter.

Step 4

Mix butter into flour with a pastry blender.

Step 5

Add cold buttermilk.

Step 6

Mix cold buttermilk in to form a shaggy dough.

Step 7

Stir in cheese and fresh herbs.

Step 8

Form dough into a rectangle.

Step 9

Fold dough into thirds like an envelope, then flatten it back into a rectangle. Do this several times.

Step 10

Use a biscuit cutter to cut dough into rounds. 

Step 11

Brush biscuits with butter and bake.

Step 12

Once golden brown, brush with more butter and serve!
